2018... time is running out to update your existing qualification!
If you've been putting it off, now is the time to book your place and refresh your CV -- in line with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 -- on one of SQMC's quarterly Transition modules.
Our Technical Director, Ron Rivans, is also the Chairman of the Chartered Quality Institute's West of Scotland branch; and a practicing 3rd party Certification auditor for one of the world's largest UKAS accredited Certification Bodies. Ron will bring you up to date with the latest ISO 9001 (2015) Standard's requirements, which was released in September 2015.
Is it mandatory to update?
In many cases it will be, because the Standard requires it for those already trained to the 2008 version.
If you are an Internal Auditor or Supplier Auditor, auditing to ISO 9001:2008, then you will most likely have to update your qualification as the Quality Management Systems you audit themselves begin to transition from the previous version to the new Standard.
I'm not an auditor. Should I attend?
This Transition workshop will be beneficial for anyone responsible for the implementation or maintenance of an ISO 9001-based Quality Management System. Managers affected by a QMS should also consider attending the course, to gain a clear understanding of how the changes and additional clauses will impact their role.
Freelance consultants and trainers will also want to attend, and the course is worth 7 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points in the Chartered Quality Institute.
A very brief summary of what's covered
This course focuses predominantly on the 'nuts and bolts' of the ISO 9001:2015 Standard. The most notable issues to be covered during our ISO 9001:2015 Transition workshop are:
- The major new clause which covers the Management of Risk
- The other major new clause covering the Context of an Organisation
- An explanation of "Annex SL" - the inspired framework on which all Management Systems Standards are being be built
Participants who successfully complete the SQMC continuous assessment exercises throughout the course are awarded with a Scottish Quality Management Centre Certificate of Successful Completion.
Please note this 1 day course/qualification does not satisfy IRCA's 'Auditor Certification Scheme' requirements, for which a 2 day course (with elongated Annex SL coverage) is required. However, for everyone else (and for HR purposes and ISO 9001:2015 Registration requirements) a 1 day Auditor Transition course/qualification - such as ours - is adequate.
