"I really enjoyed my course and Karen - our tutor - is one of the best tutors I’ve ever met. I’d definitely recommend SQMC and Karen to other people who might be interested doing the courses you provide."

QMS Courses with a (free*) OHSAS 18001 'Bolt-on' (our exclusive open-to-public variant of the 2-day, IRCA-Certified, ISO 9001 Internal QMS Auditor programme)

Q Does this course run for longer than a standard Internal QMS Auditor?

A No - we've specifically designed it to fit within the 14-hour timespan regulated by IRCA. The 'bolt-on' portion which relates to the Health and Safety Standard simply integrates with a section of the programme which would normally focus soley on ISO 9001.

Q What if I don't need a knowledge of OHSAS 18001?

A You have nothing to lose! Successful participants receive the same IRCA Certificate as those attending a standard Internal QMS Auditor; plus recognition of their completion of the extra Health and Safety aspect. And though you may not need these skills or qualification at present, who knows what the future will hold for you professionally?!

Q I'd rather study both Standards separately - which courses should I opt for?

A We provide our standard open-to-public ISO 9001 Internal Auditor course at various venues nationwide. If you require a more in-depth study of OHSAS 18001, please consider our dedicated Internal Auditor course; or our value-added Internal HSE Auditor course (which combines OHSAS 18001 with the popular Environmental International Standard, ISO 14001).

To book this version, just look for the "OHSAS Bolt-on" options on our standard ISO 9001 Internal Auditor page

Ron Rivans

Head of Training Division, SQMC.

A great benefit to including OHSAS 18001 with your QMS Audit training is the practical tie-ins with clause 6.3 of ISO 9001, which relate to the provision of the correct environment for the product. Since these conditions may also affect the employees associated with the work, their protection must also be condsidered. We widen the scope of normal Internal QMS Auditor courses, with valuable addional issues such as Risk Assessment, hazards, incident and 'near-miss' reporting."

What is the unique benefit of SQMC's Internal 'Quality and Safety' Auditor (ISO 9001 plus OHSAS 18001 'bolt-on') training course?

Attendees of this combined course can gain their IRCA Internal QMS Auditor qualification whilst training to audit to not only ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, but also OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Systems.

What does this value-added course cover?

Over only two days, you'll take part in the latest version of SQMC's Internal Quality Auditor programme - that's the same IRCA-certified version which we've been providing for over two decades - plus the key elements from BSi's industry standard for Occupational Health & Safety (OHSAS 18001).
Please note that we also offer an equivalent 'Quality and Environmental' version privately - either in-house, or right here at the Scottish Quality Management Centre.

Details for the Technically-Minded!

The aim of this 14-hour IRCA ‘2180 Variant’ course (ref. A 17158) is to provide participants intending to perform internal audits with the knowledge and skills required to assess and report on the conformance and effective implementation of processes, through an internal audit, and to contribute to the continual improvement of a combined QMS and OH&S MS.

Such 'hybrids' have been designed to satisfy those organisations who have a Quality Management System as a basis, but want to add an OH&S MS to their activitie; and conduct combined internal audits. They are designed in line with IRCA requirements, and therefore eligible for IRCA-approved Certificates.

Qualification

An IRCA approved certificate for those who successfully complete all elements of the course, including written and practical skills assessment.

This course satisfies the formal training requirements for those wishing to register with IRCA as an Internal Quality Auditor (our separate, single-day ISO 9001 Foundation workshop may be required, dependant on your background).

Attendance on this training course will provide delegates with 16 CPD points.
