Running for 14 hours over two consecutive days, our IRCA-accredited Internal Quality Auditor course equips participants with the knowledge and skills required to perform process audits of modern Quality Management Systems (QMS), in accordance with the Auditing Guidelines of ISO 19,011.
Why should YOU attend this Internal Auditor course?
Have you been designated to carry out internal audits of your organisation’s Quality Management Systems (QMS)? This training course focuses on ISO 9001:2008 – the world’s most famous International Standard relating to Quality systems. Your SQMC tutor will take you through the Standard – which itself is nicely written in more ‘human terms’ than other Standards from days gone by – giving you a fantastic grounding in its clauses, before explaining SQMC’s time-tested tips and techniques of conducting friendly and efficient internal QMS audits.
Or it could be that you’ll be involved in the design, implementation, and continual improvement of a Quality Management System - either as an employee, or an external consultant?
Maybe you’re the Manager of such an organisation - you're due to be audited, and you're keen to learn exactly what to expect?!
Whatever your reason – you’re in good company! Our ISO 9001 Internal Auditor course is accredited by the International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA), and delegates from the all over the globe have travelled here to the Scottish Quality Management Centre (SQMC), to gain this internationally-accepted qualification.
A few more benefits – at a glance!
Our Internal Auditor course provides a valuable opportunity to learn or improve auditing techniques and practices.
We believe learning should be enjoyable! So we’re continually working hard behind the scenes to develop dynamic new practical exercises and group activities, to engage delegates in the course content and bring the subject to life.
Time flies! SQMC’s new and improved classroom structures keep ‘lectures’ on theory to a minimum, and avoid ‘death by Powerpoint!’ (We give you extensive course notes, and optional print-outs of the most important slides.) In taking this approach, we free up more time for our enthusiastic Tutors to interact with you individually, and coach you towards your new skills goal.
We restrict our class sizes to ensure you receive that ‘personal touch’. It’s not uncommon for delegates to make new friends with each other, and especially their Tutor – who can be an especially valuable contact throughout your future Quality career.
Add Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points to your record, by participating in this SQMC programme.

Delegates attending this Quality Management Systems training course take part in practical role-play scenarios, dynamic case-studies, and team work. SQMC Tutors encourage your questions – no matter how basic you may think they are – as part of a series of lively (not lengthy!) lectures. In only two days, you can learn, understand and appreciate all of the following:
The world-famous International Standard for designing and assessing Quality procedures – ISO 9001 (the latest “2008” version).
You’ll be introduced to two other important Quality Standards from ISO – the latest editions of 9000 and 9004. You may encounter these when implementing a QMS.
The Requirements of a Quality Management System, using the latest versions of ISO 9001 as your yardstick.
Getting to grips with Documentation and Interpretation.
Understand the principles, methodology, preparation and performance of the Quality Audit, to ISO 19,011.
The key to selecting the Audit sample, and the subsequent preparation of checklists – get this right and you’ll perform Process Audits with increased confidence.
How to prepare the findings and statements for a Corrective Action Report.
Master the art of straightforward Audit Reporting.
A look at Corrective & Preventive Action, the follow-up process, and then surveillance.
The requirements of the Registration Scheme in the UK operated by the Chartered Quality Institute’s “International Register of Certificated Auditors” (CQI / IRCA).
ISO 9001:2008 provides both manufacturing and service organisations with a useful model for business process improvement. Within this model, ISO9001 identifies the internal audit process as a vital tool in the maintenance and continual improvement of a customer-focused, process-based quality management system (QMS).
Also featured are ISO 9000, covering the "Eight Management Principles”; and ISO 19,011 – a universal Standard which provides guidelines for Quality and/or Environmental (plus other) Management Systems auditing.
A comprehensive Workbook is provided for class use and your future reference, plus a blank audit forms kit which you may copy and use for your own internal Quality Audits.
Qualification
An IRCA approved certificate for those who successfully complete all elements of the course, including written and practical skills assessment.
This course satisfies the formal training requirements for those wishing to register with IRCA as an Internal Quality Auditor (our separate, single-day ISO 9001 Foundation workshop may be required, dependant on your background).
Attendance on this training course will provide delegates with 16 CPD points.
