The Scottish Quality Management Centre originally designed these IRCA-certified 'hybrid' training courses around a decade ago, to accommodate the request of a customer which needed staff to be prepared for Internal Audits of both Quality AND Environmental Management Systems - but had a particularly tight budget which was a real hindrance to their Quality Manager.

Our Technical Department quickly turned our client's problem into an opportunity for innovation - and had the newly-developed "Internal Quality and Environmental Auditor" 2-day training course approved and certified by our accreditors, IRCA. Within months, we achieved the same for an "Internal Quality and Safety Auditor" programme - and have been saving our customers time and money with such 'hybrids' ever since.

What do these value-added courses cover?

Over only two days, you'll take part in the latest version of SQMC's Internal Quality Auditor programme - that's the same IRCA-certified version which we've been providing for over two decades - plus either the key elements from BSi's industry standard for Occupational Health & Safety  (OHSAS 18001) , or the International Standard for Environmental Management Systems  (ISO 14001) - whichever best suits your requirements.
Please note that we currently offer only the Quality and Safety version publicly; however we would be delighted to provide for you our Quality and Environmental hybrid privately - either in-house, or right here at the Scottish Quality Management Centre.

Details for the Technically-Minded!

The aim of these 14-hour IRCA ‘2180 Variant’ courses (ref. A 17158) is to provide participants intending to perform internal audits with the knowledge and skills required to assess and report on the conformance and effective implementation of processes, through an internal audit, and to contribute to the continual improvement of their combined QMS, EMS and/or OH&S MS.

These 'hybrids' have been designed to satisfy those organisations who have a Quality Management System as a basis, but want to add either an EMS or OH&S MS to their activities, and want to do combined internal audits. They are offered primarily as in-house courses, developed to each client's needs but still in line with IRCA requirements, and therefore eligible for IRCA-approved Certificates.

Qualification

An IRCA approved certificate for those who successfully complete all elements of the course, including written and practical skills assessment.

This course satisfies the formal training requirements for those wishing to register with IRCA as an Internal Quality Auditor (our separate, single-day ISO 9001 Foundation workshop may be required, dependant on your background).

Attendance on this training course will provide delegates with 16 CPD points.

"A great benefit to including OHSAS 18001 to your QMS Audit training is the practical tie-in's with clause 6.3 of ISO 9001, which relate to the provision of the correct environment for the product. Since these conditions may also affect the employees associated with the work, their protection must also be condsidered. We widen the scope of normal Internal QMS Auditor courses, with valuable addional issues such as Risk Assessment, hazards, incident and 'near-miss' reporting."
