What is the aim of an AS 9100 Internal Auditor training course?

Running for 14 hours over two consecutive days, our IRCA-accredited Internal Aerospace and Defence Auditor course equips participants with the knowledge and skills required to perform process audits of modern Quality Management Systems (QMS), in accordance with the Auditing Guidelines of ISO 19,011.

Why should YOU attend this Internal Auditor course?

Have you been designated to carry out internal audits of your Aviation, Aeronautics, or Defence organisation’s Quality Management Systems (QMS)? This training course focuses on AS9100:2009 (Revision C) – the leading International Standard relating to Quality systems in your specialist industry. Your SQMC tutor will take you through the Standard – explaining the clauses in digestible portions – before divulging SQMC’s time-tested tips and techniques of conducting friendly and efficient process audits.

Or it could be that you’ll be involved in the design, implementation, and continual improvement of an Aerospace-related Quality Management System - either as an employee, or an external consultant?

Maybe you’re the Manager of such an organisation - you're due to be audited, and you're keen to learn exactly what to expect?!

Whatever your reason – you’re in good company! Our AS9100 Internal Auditor course is accredited by the International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA), and delegates from Quality-committed organisations such as British Airways, BAE Systems, and Spirit AeroSpace have attended the Scottish Quality Management Centre (SQMC), to gain this internationally-accepted qualification.

A few more benefits – at a glance!
Our Internal Auditor course provides a valuable opportunity to learn or improve auditing techniques and practices.
We believe learning should be enjoyable! So we’re continually working hard behind the scenes to develop dynamic new practical exercises and group activities, to engage delegates in the course content and bring the subject to life.
Comprehensive! We provide you with extensive course notes (and optional print-outs of the most important slides). Given the added ‘richness’ of AS9100 over a more general Quality Standard (such us ISO 9001), your enthusiastic SQMC Tutor will spend extra time talking you through it, fielding your questions, and being attentive to translate technicalities into ‘human-friendly’ lingo and examples – so you can better relate and apply your new skills and knowledge most effectively.
We restrict our class sizes to ensure you receive that ‘personal touch’. It’s not uncommon for delegates to make new friends with each other, and particularly their Tutor – who can be an especially valuable contact throughout your future Quality career.
Add Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points to your record, by participating in this SQMC programme.

For the more technically-minded – here’s an outline of the Programme

Delegates attending this Aerospace and Defence training course take part in practical role-play scenarios, dynamic case-studies, and team work. SQMC Tutors encourage your questions – no matter how basic you may think they are – as part of a series of lively lectures. In only two days, you can learn, understand and appreciate all of the following:
The world-famous International Standard for designing and assessing Quality procedures – ISO 9001 (the latest “2008” version); and the Aerospace and Defence-specific AS 9100 Standard (2009’s “Revision C”).
The Requirements of a Quality Management System for suppliers to the Aviation, Aeronautics and Defence markets, using AS 9100 as your yardstick.
Also includes a summary of the changes from Revision B to Revision C - making this course an ideal updater for previously trained AS 9100 Auditors.
Getting to grips with Documentation and Interpretation.
Understand the principles, methodology, preparation and performance of the Quality Audit, to ISO 19,011.
The key to selecting the Audit sample, and the subsequent preparation of checklists – get this right and you’ll perform Process Audits with increased confidence.
How to prepare the findings and statements for a Corrective Action Report.
Master the art of straightforward Audit Reporting.
A look at Corrective & Preventive Action, the follow-up process, and then surveillance.
The requirements of the Registration Scheme in the UK operated by the Chartered Quality Institute’s “International Register of Certificated Auditors” (CQI / IRCA).

This AS9100 Internal Auditors course (based on AS9100 Revision C and ISO 9001:2008) is the current version of the Internal Aerospace Auditor training programme originally developed by the Scottish Quality Management Centre, over five years ago. As with our Automotive equivalent (TS 16949), it is approved by the International Register of Certificated Auditors (ref. A17158), and registered as a variant to IRCA Specification 2180.

The goal of this Aerospace and Defence Standard is the development of a Quality Management System (QMS) that provides for continual improvement, emphasising defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain.

AS9100 (Rev. C) defines fundamental Aerospace and/or Defence QMS requirements. It will also provide a common approach to a QMS for Aviation, Aeronautics and Defence production, and relevant service part organisations.

Also featured is ISO 9000, covering the "Eight Management Principles”; and ISO 19,011 – a universal Standard which provides guidelines for Quality Management Systems auditing.

A comprehensive Workbook is provided for class use and your future reference, plus a blank audit forms kit which you may copy and use for your own internal Quality audits.

Continuous Assessment techniques will apply throughout the course to the IRCA learning objectives tests. Successful completion of the course will be verified by an IRCA-approved Certificate of Successful Completion.

Qualification

An IRCA approved certificate for those who successfully complete all elements of the course, including written and practical skills assessment.

This course satisfies the formal training requirements for those wishing to register with IRCA as an Internal Quality Auditor (our separate, single-day ISO 9001 Foundation workshop may be required, dependant on your background).

Attendance on this training course will provide delegates with 16 CPD points.
